Goal
Increase visibility of Ipsen, a French-based biotechnology company through the launch of its Milford Massachusetts research and development facility, using a 3-pronged public relations approach.

Strategy
Invite high-profile political and industry leaders to attend and participate in ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Contact a variety of business and biotechnology journalists and developed several coverage angles that included:

  • The development of Ipsen’s new hemophilia drug
  • Reasons why a French company would want to locate a major R&D facility in Massachusetts
  • Ipsen’s awards and partnerships with U.S. universities and smaller biotechnology firms
  • The number of new jobs created by company’s expansion

Manage a variety of contract vendors for client to ensure seamless event that lasted over 12 hours .

Results
Governor Mitt Romney and Mass Biotechnology Council President Thomas Finneran attended the event and offered their remarks and congratulations.

Byline article published in The Boston Business Journal one week before the event.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony received widespread coverage from local television, radio and print outlets – media coverage exceeded client expectations.
